250,000 connected coffee machine. 5,000 cups of coffee per second.
Centralized predictive maintenance, AI powered interactions and an improved customer response are only a few of the accomplishment of the Connect Coffee Machine program for Jacob Douwe Egbert. JDE needed a way to improve efficiency across a dispersed network of installed coffee machines throughout Europe.
Connecting 250,000 professional coffee machines for business and collecting and normalising disparate data from the machines were the first steps in empowering JDE and the Enterprises using JDE machines to keep their staff caffeinated, continuously, without machine interruption. Advanced prototypes showed novel ways of connecting coffee consumers through AI powered recommendations resulting in increased consumption and ultimately better predictive planning for a connect coffee machine network.

How Data Reveals Endless Opportunities for Optimization
“Digital farming’s leading software platform that turns your field data into insights” Each farm is different. Every field is unique. Use FieldView™ year round to make data driven decisions to maximize your return on every acre. We’re your data partner to seamlessly collect, store, and visualize critical field data, monitor and measure the impact of your agronomic decisions on crop performance, and manage your field variability by building customized fertility and seeding plans for your fields to optimize yield and maximize profit.
Over 30% water savings across industrial farms spanning multiple European counties was our first goal, which we achieved in under 2 years. Using satellite imagery, machine vision and drone monitoring, our work with Bayer optimised crop feeding, created better produce and greatly improved relationships between farmers and advisors using Climate Fieldview. Trust between farmer and advisors doubled and farmers felt that the power of technology was being handed to them for the benefit of their farms. Centralized dashboards allowed farmers to share their data to neighbouring farms and advisors are able to truly advise at scale.
Intelligent Buildings, powered by data and AI
Tenants engage with intelligent buildings, improving predictability and increased profits. Tenant satisfaction quadruples.
Co-working spaces are abundant and becoming the mainstay of the work landscape globally. When B Building Amsterdam needed to improve tenant satisfaction, increase profitability and become better at predicting tenants’ needs, looking into exiting and collecting new data became central to building intelligence.
Imagine rolling up to your co-work space to be greeted by conversational AI which knows your coffee preferences and can order your choice before you have even parked your vehicle. Upon approach to the building the scent of your coffee floats through the window as the building doors are unlocked for you, your agenda delivered topographically related to the space you walked into and your coffee ready at the barista stand. In this low friction scenario, prepayments are made for consumables and room bookings via voice, facial recognition, device proximities and networked rooms which can support meetings through recording, transcribing and creating action lists. Lights are brightened and dimmed automatically based on tenants previously stated preference and operational staff maintenance schedules are allocated appropriately through optimisation routined.
